FUME CUPBOARD TESTING

NATA Accredited Testing of Fume Cupboards and Fume Cabinets

Airepure NATA certified technicians are accredited to perform various compliance tests to validate fume cupboards and cabinets, as per the following Australian Standards:

  • AS 2243.8 Safety in laboratories: Fume Cupboards (Appendices A and B)
  • AS 2243.9 – Safety in laboratories: Recirculating fume cabinets (Appendices A and B)

NATA accredited testing for ducted fume hoods include:

  • AS/NZS 2243.8 App A – Smoke Test (Clause A4.2)
  • AS/NZS 22433.8 App B – Determining Face Velocity (Clause B4.2)
  • Calculation based on Face Velocity – Air Change Rates (Clause 3.1.2)
  • AS 1807.15 – Lighting Intensity (Clause 2.2.5)
  • AS 1807.20 – Sound Levels (Clause 4.2.4)

NATA accredited testing for recirculating fume hoods include:

  • AS/NZS 2243.9 App A – Smoke Test (Clause A3.2)
  • AS/NZS 22433.9 App B – Determining Face Velocity (Clause B3.2)
  • Calculation based on Face Velocity – Air Change Rates (Clause 3.1.2)
  • AS 1807.15 – Lighting Intensity (Clause 2.3.6)
  • AS 1807.20 – Sound Levels (Clause 5.2.5)

At the conclusion of our comprehensive testing, you will receive a detailed analysis report and a NATA endorsed Certificate of Compliance to verify that your fume cupboard meets Australian Standard specifications.

When should Fume Cupboards be tested?

  • On site, prior to use, upon installation and/or commissioning.
  • After any mechanical or electrical maintenance.
  • After filter replacement.
  • After re-location of clean work stations or safety cabinets.
  • Re-tested at least annually
  • Re-tested as required by appropriate regulatory authority.
  • In special circumstances, such as a significant change in the work program, or where impaired operation is suspected.
