Airepure’s Kaire® Unit is a multi-staged, combination filtration system designed and tailored to control kitchen exhaust emissions of all types of cooking applications.

Designed to operate at 1.85m/s, the Airepure Kaire® Unit utilises three stages of particle filtration and a final odour removal stage to deliver a minimum 0.3 micron particulate removal efficiency of 95%+ (EN 1822.5:2009) and an initial contact efficiency of 99%+ with odours.

Light to Heavy Cooking Applications

This system incorporates four stages of kitchen air filtration to control light to heavy smoke, grease and cooking odours.

The first three stages utilise industry standard mechanical filters to deliver particulate filtration with increasing efficiency at a minimal cost and the fourth stage uses activated carbon media to remove the odours.

Three Stages of Particle Collection

Stage 1Pre filtration stage targeting large grease particles: Airepure G4 Pure-V 100mm deep pleated panel filter with a hot melt seal into an aluminium outer frame which creates self-supporting rigid v-form pleats with no wire/mesh and no contaminant bypass.

Stage 2Intermediate filtration stage targeting fine grease particles: Airepure F7 AirePak 380mm deep 8 pocket bags that are sonically sealed, moisture resistant and constructed with spun glass instead of synthetic media to improve performance and structural integrity against the rigours of kitchen exhaust.

Stage 3 – Final filtration stage targeting smoke particles: Airepure E11 AireFlow-V 300mm deep mini-pleat filter that is 95% efficient at 0.3 micron as per EN1822.5:2009 standards. The AireFlow-V consists of moisture resistant micro glass fibre media in multiple mini-pleat V-banks. The mini pleat banks are bonded with an EVA hot melt adhesive to ABS plastic casing with a polyurethane sealant.

Final Odour Removal Stage

Stage 4Odour control : Airepure PM18 450mm deep refillable modules filled with activated carbon media. There is a minimum of 35kg / 610mm x 610mm filter of activated carbon media providing an initial contact efficiency of 99+% with odours when operated at 1.85m/s. Tailored gaseous filtration for certain applications is available.

Fully Integrated In-Line Fan

A Fantech integrated in-line fan maintains constant airflow volume via pressure sensor and VSD.

Perfectly matched to the Airepure Kaire® Unit filtration system, this high performance, fully integrated in-line fan ensures effective air extraction, helps to reduce installation time and eliminates the need for separate fan selections.

Kaire® Unit Construction

Standard one-piece factory construction utilising 2mm galvanised steel ensures the structural integrity of the system and allows easy and simple installation. The indoor Airepure Kaire® Units have removable doors.

The Airepure Kaire® Unit side access system has been designed with gasket seals on all tracking slides, walls and doors that perfectly match Airepure filters to limit bypass and ensure effective filtration.

Split Construction :  The Airepure Kaire® Unit can be manufactured in three sections to allow transport through existing buildings and doorways.  These sections are then bolted together with internal flanges once in the final location.

Powdercoating : The Airepure Kaire® Unit is available in a blue powdercoated option to extend the life of the housing.

Weatherproofing : The Airepure Kaire® Unit can be manufactured with weather lips to prevent the ingress of water. We strongly recommended selecting the powdercoated option with weather lips for the Kaire® Unit when used outdoors.

Controls for the Airepure Kaire® Unit

The Airepure Kaire® Unit has 3 inbuilt pressure differential sensors designed to monitor the pressure drop increase over the pre-filter, bag-filter and final filter.  Once the pressure drops over the respective filters have reached a prescribed limit, replacement of the filters is recommended.

The standard control option is magnehelic pressure gauges, requiring no additional onsite work or power, however inspection is only local.

Alternatively, 4-20ma pressure transmitters are available as an option. These 3 pressure transmitters have a local display, and are pre-wired to a junction box located on top of the Kaire® Unit to allow easy connection to an existing building management system or remote display.

Kaire® Unit Maintenance

The Airepure Kaire® Unit has been specifically designed to suit quality Airepure filters, which ensure reliability, high performance and low operating costs. The use of non-Airepure filters may lead to bypass of contaminants, leading
to reduced system performance.

The use of a load reducing mechanism at the hood, such as a high efficiency hood filter (Captrate® Solo) is highly recommended and can significantly reduce maintenance costs on the Kaire® Unit.

The replacement cycle ratio of the filters for Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 is usually every 3, 6, 12 and 12-24 months respectively;
however, the ratio and frequency of filter replacements is highly dependent on the cooking load. Please contact Airepure for estimated replacement frequencies for your cooking load.

The Airepure Kaire® Unit is maintained by replacing used dirty filters with new filters when required. Filters are accessed through the side access door. Our service technicians can provide regular onsite change over and replacement of  particulate filters and carbon media within your existing Kaire® Unit installations, using new filters and media from our own stock holdings.

Service visits are usually arranged out of business hours when the commercial kitchen is closed and the Kaire® Unit is not in use. Used filters and carbon media are boxed and sealed upon completion of the Kaire® Unit service and returned to Airepure for ethical disposal.

Tailored Odour Control

Activated carbon is adequate at removing odours for most kitchens, however certain types of cooking can release odours that are not removed by activated carbon. To overcome this, the odour control section of the Airepure Kaire® Unit can be upgraded to include a 50:50 media blend of activated carbon and activated alumina impregnated with potassium permanganate.

Additionally, if the exhaust location is extra sensitive, it is advised to use this specialised media to ensure maximum odour removal. The odour control section can be interchanged between activated carbon and tailored odour control media at any stage if circumstances change.
