AIREPURE SEMINAR: Regulatory Changes to AS/NZS 2243.8:2014 & New Technology Trends in Laboratory Exhaust Systems

Brisbane Seminar

A series of seminars were presented in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne throughout July 2014.

This was a unique opportunity to see a working twin fan Strobic Air Tri-Stack system, understand the capabilities & principles of the PLC control system & plenum dampers as well as gain hands on experience with the low vibration, sound & dilution features of the Strobic fans.

Australian Standard 2243.8 now allows manifolding; creating the possibility of safer, higher performance & more cost effective lab ventilation systems. Airepure Australia, together with our guest speaker Luke Fresconi of Strobic Air Corporation USA presented a short seminar detailing recent revisions to the standards, enabling attendees to better specify these critical safety systems in Australia. Luke has extensive experience with the Tri-Stack fans & the most recent trends around the world in manifolded systems for energy savings, thermal recovery & improved building safety.

Topics covered:

  • Perspectives on manifolded systems & 2243.8
  • Design & performance of extraction systems
  • Energy savings and control systems
  • Stack height & other safety considerations
  • Noise, dilution & other specifications
  • Example guidelines for design & specification
