Bio-Oxidation Systems for Odour & VOC Control in Industrial Apllications

Economics and Ergonomics

• Met-Pro Environmental Air Solutions has designed the Duall® BIO-PRO™ BIO-SCRUBBER line with both the owner and operator in mind
• The “Standard Unit” has only two (2) electrical components, a recirculation pump and fan. This not only reduces the overall operational costs, but maintenance and replacement costs as well
• All diagnostic items such as pressure gauges and flow meters, are located on the same side of the unit (see photo at left) to reduce maintenance time.

Dilution and Dispersion

• If your odor profile is primarily Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) with an insignificant amount of other odor consituents, then the configuration shown at left is the optimal solution. The first stage of treatment is for >99% removal of H2S through the BIO-PRO™ BIO-SCRUBBER followed by a Strobic Air mixed flow exhauster for dilution and dispersion
• This design strategy is beneficial for sites deemed as “zero tolerance” with respect to odor complaints

Prehumidification

• When inlet conditions such as temperature and relative humidity are not favorable for biological activity, a standard option for prehumidificaiton is available
• BIO-PRO™ Horizontal Models (BPH) are configured in a modular format as pictured at right
• BIO-PRO™ Vertical Models (BPV) have the option to insert a flanged section

Media Bed

• Media beds in biotechnologies must maintain humidification, maintain proper air distribution, resist compression, be inert to chemical attack, support optimal growth with a large surface area and possess a conduit for metabolic byproducts to be displaced in order to be considered an overall success
• One single media does not possess all of the above referenced characteristics. BIO-PRO™ BIO-SCRUBBERS utilize a combination of three (3) medias (as shown at left) arranged in a proprietary configuration to maintain a consistent and reliable means of odor control

Nutrient and Dosing System

• BIO-PRO™ BIO-SCRUBBERS utilize a non-hazardous nutrient formulation that is stored, shipped and introduced via the dosing system in a solid form, eliminating the need for a nutrient tank and metering pump
• The nutrient contains typical components such as nitrogen, potassium and phosphorous. Then a proprietary blend of replication accelerators and micro nutrients are added to ensure that the bacterial colony readily uptakes odor constituents while maintaining an optimal biomass to withstand process upsets
• The dosing system features a visual display so that the operator can readily detect when nutrient replacement is necessary

Bacteria

• Met-Pro Environmental Air Solutions maintains an active stock of bacteria for seeding the BIO-PRO™ BIO-SCRUBBER which greatly reduces acclimation time and mitigates other strains from thriving while making a stronger overall biomass
• The respective bacteria is preconditioned to specific process parameters which keep it in the “ready” status
• Met-Pro Environmental Air Solutions implements routine quality assurance/quality control checks to ensure both the highest quality and quantity of bacteria
